My Last Post For the Year 5 Blog. Part 1 – 3 By Charlie

Posted by Year 5 on July 21, 2011

As in 6 weeks I will be going in to Year 6 I want to make my last post about everything I did in Year 5.

Today in maths we did a test I came third today but yesterday I came second. I beat my time aswel because yesterday I got 7:74 and today I got 6:45.

In Literacy we went on the Nintendo Wii because our Deputy Head Teacher Mr Mitchell said ” Why don’t you check out some games and see if they are good for learning”  We played Wild Earth Safari Africa.

In the Afternoon we tried to make Video’s about the Sun,Moon,Earth and I think Me,Amber,Haarith,Humariaa,Phoebe did ok.

After that lesson we got bags out and got all our stuff out and packed EVERYTHING we did in year 5 in the bag. My Bag nearly ripped because I had so much in it.

So that all we did today. Ill post what I do tommorow and Thursday the last day of the Year5 Year.

Project Egg: letters to the M.R.R.S

Posted by Miss Dackombe on July 20, 2011

Following an earlier post from Professor Scanlon from the Mythical Reptile Research Society, we went on expeditions (in our own time) to hunt for a new species of dragon. Guess what? We were all successful! Having heard a rumour that the M.R.R.S pays top dollar for such discoveries, we wrote letters to inform the professor and her colleagues of our discoveries, hoping that we may be lucky enough to receive a reward.

These are just a sample of the letters we wrote:

Buster found in San Francisco! by Louis

Posted by Year 5 on July 19, 2011

Last week a golden labrador, aged seven, was found roaming the streets in San Francisco.Buster had been missing for six months and his owner thought she’d never see him again.Nicola Howarth told us “I was over the moon when I got the phone call from the RSPCA.(Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)I knew somebody would find Buster and return him.”

After lots of enquiries we believe Buster had hidden in a lorry and that’s how he’d travelled so far away.Buster was found by a young man, Billy Smith. He found Buster in a back street crying.Billy told us “When I found the dog he was in a horrible state because he had hurt his leg. It was muddy and bleeding and Buster was crying and sad. I picked him up and carried him carefully to my house.I gave him some water and some dog food then I phoned the RSPCA. I wanted to keep Buster but I knew that his owner was probably looking for him and would be sad. I hope Buster will soon be bettter and that he will not run too far away again”

Buster has had his leg fixed and he can now walk and run like a new puppy.Miss Howarth told us “I am going to keep the back gate locked so Buster doesn’t run off again.I am so happy to see Buster as I have missed him so much”

My dark, dark dragon by Daniel

Posted by Year 5 on July 12, 2011

My dragon is muscley and ginormous – the scariest dragon of all! He can defeat any dragon in DragonWorld! He fights by swooping down on to his prey. He bites its neck, crushes its throat then rips it apart in to easy to eat pieces. Once he has killed his prey he drags it in to his den.

My dragon doesn’t have a family, that’s why he’s struggling to live. His family were all killed whilst he was out hunting for their food. He now spends his time hunting for the Red dragon who slaughtered his family. He saw him once, almost caught him but then he got away. Next time he will sneak up on the Red dragon and bite his throat!

After my dragon has been hunting he returns to his cave. it is gloomy, dark and scary – it looks like a giant worms mouth with spikey, sharp teeth.

My dragon is easy to recognise. He has enormous grey and yellow wings and a yellow stomach whilst the rest of his body is dark blue like the ocean. My dragon has a long, spikey tail which is rough like a trees bark. When anything tries to attack him he swishes his tail and sends his enemy flying through the air. This means that the enemy never returns!

Buster lost and found again! by Salim

Posted by Year 5 on July 12, 2011

Yesterday Mrs. Mildred Mopp was reunited with her dog Buster.Buster had been missing for twelve months and was found in San Francisco 1200 miles away. The Chief Dog keeper, Bob Miller checked the animals tag and discovered that Buster was from Colorado. He was very surprised. He phoned Mrs Mopp straight away wanting some answers to his questions. He asked Why did Buster run away? Why did he come to San Francisco? Did the dog leave because you are mean to him?

Mrs Mopp was very surprised to hear that Buster was still alive and told Mr Miller that he was a pet an well looked after. She emailed a picture of Buster to Mr Miller straight away and he confirmed that the missing dog was definitely Buster.Mrs Mopp said “I’ve missed Buster so much.I haven’t seen him in a long time. I felt joyful when I got the phone call saying he was safe. My children thought he was dead so now they are very excited. When the children saw Buster they hugged him and gave him lots of cuddles. They fed him his favourite dog food and treats. He is very happy to be home”

Mr Bob Miller thinks that Buster spent his time in San Francisco on holiday! He said “Buster looks very healthy.I think he’s made lots of friends and enjoyed his time here. He’s certainly been well looked after! Buster couldn’t say anything – he just barked!!!

London beseiged by dragons. Stay away!

Posted by Miss Dackombe on July 9, 2011

Twenty-five years have passed. Quinn is a grown man and has taken refuge in the ruins of a castle in Northumberland. Dragons roam the world’s skies, unchallenged, burning and feeding, terrorising and killing. Mankind is on the brink of extinction.

Over the radio (the only means of communication available to the last few remaining survivors) rumours are rife that London is dragon-free and a safe place for people to return and rebuild their lives. Quinn, with his American comrades: Van Zan and Jensen travel to the capital to investigate. They quickly realise that the rumour is not true and urgently broadcast this fact to anyone who may be listening…

We watched this very tense scene from the film ‘Reign of Fire’ and have written our own radio annoucements to warn people about the danger. Audioboos of these will come soon.
